All of this started with the idea of a 40-day fast ending before my anniversary on August 21st. Before you get worried, it is not a true fast. Believe me, I know that I am pregnant. Starting Tuesday, July 11th, I will be starting the 1000-day journey and kicking it off with some additional side quests.
With where I am at right now, probably many of the first side quests will have to do with nutrition and exercise. So here's the plan:
No obvious sugar for 40 days. I am counting baked goods, candy, ice cream, coffee creamer, etc. I am not going to be going crazy. I will not be reading spaghetti sauce labels. I will not be cutting out fruit. I will still be drinking my normal protein shake (I am sure it has some amount of added sugar.) This is going to be difficult. I have a huge sweet tooth. I love creamer in my coffee. My second job is baking and developing recipes for my family's business, so there will be sweets around. But! I can do it! Plus I break the sugar fast around on my anniversary weekend so that will be fun.
Drink 96 ounces of water per day. Also a tough one. But I think I will get used to it.
An annoying but necessary one: use My Fitness Pal to record my daily calories and stick to 2000 calories per day. One of the things I really want to do is get used to eating a normal amount of food. It is so easy for me to over-eat, especially at restaurants. I really want to get a good feeling for how much the "normal" amount of calories is. We will see how this goes, but I think I will need to do this for more than 40 days to get a good handle on my food.
No-buy. This obviously excludes groceries and household supplies like cleaning supplies and toiletries (no makeup though).
I think that is everything. Obviously including tier one and tier two habits. The goal here is not to lose weight, but to just have better nutrition and health habits and to start preparing for some serious work after the baby comes.
